Project Overview
This Bradenton home was a full house remodel: which consisted of removing walls, changing the footprint of the home, new flooring throughout the downstairs, full kitchen remodel , laundry room, garage custom cabinets with epoxy flooring, two guest bathrooms that were tub to shower conversions, a dry bar and also a feature wall in their living room with cabinetry and a wall of Cambria quartz to house their television and fireplace.
The Clients
Our clients were looking to update the dated builder grade home that they had purchased 10 years ago. The home had good bones, but they were looking for a clean, transitional and timeless look, more of a open plan as they love to cook and entertain.
The Challenge
The challenge on this project was moving the plumbing from an interior wall in the kitchen which had plumbing stacks that fed the upstairs master bathroom. The plumbing stacks had to be relocated close to an exterior wall as possible and were able to hide the plumbing stacks with use of cabinetry and then trench the floor to relocate the sink to the new island.
The second challenge on the project was the laundry room that housed the water heater for the home and a built-in closet which made the laundry room very small. To overcome this challenge, we installed a tankless water heater that was placed in the garage and removed the built-in closet that then really opened up the space in the laundry room and made it more user friendly.
Our Solution
To create more storage with the use of custom cabinetry and to ensure the kitchen was user friendly. We wanted to ensure the kitchen was well balanced as functional. The 48-inch stove was to become the focal point for the kitchen with the 60-inch Walnut hood. We also used Walnut accent pieces that blended and softened the white wood cabinets.
Cambria Quartz, Windsor Brass Satin Ridge with a full height backsplash that blended with all the gold accents on the appliances and the hardware.
- We created a space that is very user friendly with many pullout drawers and accessories for the cabinetry.
- The flooring used was a 24 x 48 porcelain tile that replaced the old dark wood floors.
- The home has more than doubled the storage capacity it had before, with opening walls and using cabinets that go to the high ceilings.
- The home now feels a lot larger than before with the use of light-colored finishes and has the wow factor as soon as you step inside the home.
- The garage has an amazing amount of storage and is clean and very sharp looking. The garage was pretty packed with items that did not fit inside of the home as well as gardening equipment, coolers and many tools.
The bathrooms were very dated with low tubs and dark dated cabinets.
- The tubs were replaced with showers as the master bathroom also has a tub. We replaced all the tile on the floor and the showers with 24×48 inch tile which gives the two guest bathrooms a very clean look.
- We replaced all the lighting in the home with 4-inch LED ceiling lights on dimmers. The cabinets also have accent LED lighting as well as the floating shelves on the TV wall.
- We removed the wall sockets in the kitchen and used plug mold strips that are at the back of the upper cabinets for a clean look.
- We installed all new base moldings 7.25 inches high due to the high ceilings which really set balanced the space.
- Freshley painted the walls and the ceilings and removed the dated yellow walls.
Outcome
Timeless space that will last the test of time. Open plan with a clean transitional look. More storage than the customer could ever imagine, they are still trying to fill the cabinets.
The whole project should have been on HGTV as it is an amazing transformation that is drop dead gorgeous.
We are very thankful the customer trusted our vision for this project. They have shown it of to many friends and family that have also become a part of the Kirkplan family.
