Cabinets
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between custom and semi-custom cabinetry?
Semi-custom cabinets offer a mid-point between standard sizes and full customization, providing a wide range of styles and finishes with some flexibility in dimensions. Our custom cabinetry, however, is built specifically for your home’s unique footprint. This allows us to maximize every inch of storage and create specialized solutions, like unique corner pull-outs or floor-to-ceiling pantries, that semi-custom lines might not offer.
How do I choose between Wood, MDF, and Acrylic doors?
The choice depends on the vibe of your home. Custom Wood is timeless, offering the natural warmth of grain and traditional craftsmanship. Custom MDF is the gold standard for a painted finish, as it resists the natural expansion and contraction that can cause paint to crack on wood joints. Acrylic and High Gloss doors provide a sleek, mirror-like finish that is perfect for modern, high-end designs and makes smaller spaces feel significantly larger.
Are textured laminates a good choice for Florida homes?
Absolutely. Modern textured laminates have come a long way; they can mimic the look and feel of real wood grain or stone with incredible accuracy. Because they are non-porous and highly durable, they handle the Florida humidity exceptionally well and are very easy to clean, making them a favorite for busy kitchens and coastal condos.
Can I update my look without replacing the entire cabinet box?
Yes, we specialize in kitchen and bathroom refacing. If your current cabinet “skeletons” are structurally sound, we can replace just the doors and drawer fronts with any of our custom wood, MDF, or acrylic options. It’s a great way to get a custom designer look while keeping your existing layout intact.
Do you offer soft-close hinges and specialized hardware?
We believe the “feel” of a cabinet is just as important as the look. All of our custom and semi-custom solutions include high-quality hardware. Soft-close hinges and smooth-glide drawer tracks are standard features for us, ensuring your kitchen stays quiet and your cabinetry lasts for years without slamming or sagging.
How do you ensure the cabinets fit perfectly in my space?
Every project begins with a professional technical survey. We don’t rely on “rough” estimates; our team takes precise measurements of your walls, appliances, and plumbing locations. This data is then used to design and build cabinets that fit your room like a glove, eliminating awkward gaps or unnecessary filler pieces.
Where can I see these different finishes in person?
Photos rarely do justice to the depth of a high-gloss finish or the feel of a textured laminate. We invite you to visit our Sarasota or Bradenton showrooms, where you can see full-sized displays, test the hardware for yourself, and compare wood species and paint colors under professional lighting.
